I'd been to Bath, but a very long time ago and don't remember much about the water.
But we did visit Maree in New South Wales, Australia, much closer to home, and I do remember that sulfur smell from their springs, now that you mention it. Didn't stop us hopping in, but I wouldn't have taken a drink of any.
I'd be quite curious to taste a durian. How interesting, that its smell doesn't match its taste.Paula Vincehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02079952414990463270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2131907587674600113.post-61130225493553364622013-07-29T21:38:43.836+10:002013-07-29T21:38:43.836+10:00Great post Paula. I recall my experiance of Durian - they say it smells like hell and tastes like heaven. On a trip to Indonesia I got to taste some and quite enjoyed it - a bit like a creamy, slightly onion flavoured custard but within seconds of taking mouthful I had a full on asthma attack. I've discovered that Sulfur does that to me. Even on our last trip we stayed at a Hotel next to some hot springs - and the Hotel piped the hot water in the rooms. I began to wheeze just from the whiff after my daughter took a shower. But your point is well taken - even when something is what we need, we don't necessarily imbibe it gladly.I guess the thing is to make sure we offend others for the right reasons - but also to remember that we don't have to be perfect to please God who loves us despite our failures. Sulfur is supposed to have several health benefits. Google it and you'll see. Of course, any time they used the hot water the house smelled of rotten eggs. :o)

jugglingpayneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10921293051956441475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2131907587674600113.post-23987485297275594792013-07-29T12:01:08.008+10:002013-07-29T12:01:08.008+10:00I agree with all your comments, ladies.

A lot of them get four star ratings on Amazon, because while they were good, they didn't have that 'zing' that made them memorable.

But the other books I remember are the ones I really didn't like. And those readers who give you one or two stars are probably the ones who most need to hear God's message. These are the readers for whom you are fulfilling the Great Commission.Iolahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17199141868703826943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2131907587674600113.post-42852428109586712952013-07-29T06:12:21.899+10:002013-07-29T06:12:21.899+10:00Great blog Paula. Loved your analogy with writing. People give bad reviews for all sorts of reasons. I've seen a number of reviews where someone rated a Christian book 1 or 2 just because they didn't like the Christian theme. But you're so right that that doesn't mean it wasn't the right message. And maybe some of those reviewers will keep thinking about the message long after their bad review.Nola Passmorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08425394685430146759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2131907587674600113.post-3357704247324176062013-07-29T00:33:01.178+10:002013-07-29T00:33:01.178+10:00I was a little worried that you actually drank tha...I was a little worried that you actually drank that water! My father-in-law had well water that had a high sulfur content. Based on that I would say your son's description was right on the mark.

And so is your description of perfection. It is impossible to have that Mary Poppins "perfectly perfect in every way." Better to strive for perfection in ways that matter.

Peace and Laughter!jugglingpayneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10921293051956441475noreply@blogger.com
